Hotels Morschwiller le Bas France Cheap Morschwiller le Bas HotelsThis village is another close neighbour of Mulhouse; sitting on its
southwest edge. It stretches out into the country, to the foothills of the
Sundgau, with their beautiful woodlands and open plains. Home to just 3,000
people, the village is a tranquil place to base your stay, with the added
convenience of being so close to the second largest town in Alsace. The
scenery is made up of green fields spotted with half-timbered white houses,
shops and inns. There's now also a modern shopping centre built on the site
of an old textile factory, one of the region's main industries. Morschwiller
gets its name from its founder, Saint Maur, who came to the region to
establish monasteries and preach Christianity. This was back in 728, and the
village has frequently changed hands since then. Until the French
Revolution, it was owned by the Dornach Family, the Counts of Ferrette, and
finally, the noted Zu-Rheins. The village is situated on the N466, which
leads into Mulhouse, and has convenient access to the A36. Something else
worth mentioning is the epithet of the townsfolk. Due to the large number of
ditches in the village, they are known as Les Grenouilles! Just off of the A36 near Mulhouse which lies a short distance to the east. Not far from both the German border and Switz border. South of Colmar and Northwest from Basil. Click on the picture of any of the cheap hotels in Morschwiller to see if they have a room available for you.
