Hotels Strasbourg France Cheap Strasbourg Hotels

As it's known as The Crossroads of Europe, it's fitting that Strasbourg is effectively four cities in one! The City Centre, Petite France, Quartier Allemand, and the Quartier des XV, make up four decidedly different districts in this utterly unique city. In the centre, you'll find the spectacular Notre Dame Cathedral made from pink limestone. It rests on an island created by two branches of the River Ill, a tributary of the Rhine. This is the heart of the old city, and as a testament to its past: it's where some of the best-known museums are housed. There's the Oeuvre Notre-Dame (next to the cathedral), the Decorative and Fine Arts museums, and the Musee d'Art Moderne et Contemporian, which houses works by Monet, amongst others. Head west and you'll come to Petite France. Cute, sweetshop coloured houses lining the canals are the norm here, in an area that looks like the setting of a fairytale. Next up on the list: Quartier Allemand (The German Quarter). This is a great district for magnificent architecture, and you just have to see the Palace of the Rhine, catch a show at the Strasbourg National Theatre, and marvel at the stunning neo-Gothic church of Saint-Paul, to get a real flavour for the city. Finally, there's the most prestigious area of town: the Quartier des XV. Here you'll find the Orangery, the largest park in the district. It's also home to some of the buildings that make the city so important: the European Parliament, European Council, and the Court of Human Rights. Another great thing about Strasbourg is that all its sights are in easy reach of each other via its futuristic trams. Strasbourg being at the crossroads of waterways has existed since the Bronze age. In 12 BC the Romans named it Argentoratum. After the fall of the Roman Empire the town was renamed Stratisburgum. In 1262, the people of the town broke from thier ruling bishops to become a free imperial city. By 1400 Strasbourg had become a free republic. The asylum seekers whom were to seek refuge here gave the city a unique culture all of its own. In 1697, Strasbourg was annexed to France. 1949 the city is chosen as the the Council of Europe's headquarters. 1979 the European Parliament makes its home here and the European Court of Human Rights in 1994.
The site provided for you to choose your cheap hotels in Strasbourg to book online. Strasbourg is known as the intellectual, cultural and economic capital of the Alsace region. This city, which is home of the European Parliament, welcomes almost 3 million visitors a year. It features high-standard museums, an Opera House known for its lyrical excellence and architectural jewels like the cathedral – also famed for its animated clock – or the Petite France area. The city can be discovered by boat: the River Rhine is popular for boat trips which offer a different view of the splendid buildings. Strasbourg also offers a wide array of restaurants, which means you can enjoy the pleasures of Choucroute (sauerkraut) or Flamenküsche, the local culinary speciality; along with some of the regions' best wines such as Tokay Pinot, Silvaner, Gewürztraminer or Riesling. You can also taste one of the very nice locally brewed beers: Strasbourg has the necessary savoir-faire since its brewing tradition goes back to the 13th century!
