Hotels Montlucon France Cheap Montlucon Hotels Guide
With a population of just 40,000, Montlucon is still Allier's biggest city.
It's also one of its prettiest, and its floral gardens have won France's
National Town in Bloom Prize numerous times. Back in the 1400's, the city
was a fief, occupying an advanced position on the boundary between the
English owned Aquitaine and the Kingdom of France. Today, the 15th Century
Louviere Castle still stands, and is in near perfect condition. There are
also three museums within the city, each specialising in different areas.
The Musee des Musiques Populaires is of particular interest. It houses the
largest collection of popular musical instruments in Europe (over 800 dating
from the 17th Century to the present day), as well as information on musical
traditions in the Auvergne region as a whole. A listed City of Art,
Montlucon takes its looks very seriously, and to that end you'll find the
Chateau de La Louviere an aesthetically pleasing mix of both art and
history. It features paintings, furniture and tapestries; again from the
1600's onwards. Given its love of traditions and vibrant outlook, it's no
wonder that the city is the chosen location of various celebrations, such as
the Boeuf Ville Carnival and the medieval festival. The nearest airport is
Domerat, only 2 miles away. If you need to find where to stay in Montlucon this is the place to book your room. All of our cheap hotels in Montlucon are at low prices and so convenient for you.
