It's the home of the famous Charolais beef, Bresse chicken and of course, a stunning range of wines (which in this department are generally chardonnays). Maconnais, home of the capital Macon is the flag bearer for these, with Pouilly-Fuisse being its most famous export. The city itself is worth a visit for many a reason though, none less so than its Cathedral of Saint Vincent, from which Mount Blanc can be seen on a clear day.
