Fontaine du Soleil marks the central point of the city and from here you can walk to Place Massena, enjoying the pretty buildings along the way. At the end of Place Massena you link up to Rue de France which is a pedestrianised shopping area filled with beautiful boutiques with exclusive fashions and fine jewellery. Cafes, bars and restaurants are a plenty here and you can relax and watch the world go by.
Promenade des Anglais leads down to the port and in August you will be surrounded by boats filled with gorgeous flowers for the Bataille de Fleurs festival. Down by the deep blue sea, lined with golden sandy beaches is where you will soak up the sun, top up your tan and absorb the atmosphere and natural beauty of the Cote D'Azur.
Marvellous markets - Cours Salaya and the Monday Flea Market where you can find antiques and pieces of interest, Le Chateau and Cimiez are well worth a visit. From the hilltops immerse yourself in panoramic views over the city and sea, sit under the olive groves, view the Museums and Monastery there and generally spend a very pleasurable afternoon.
Very helpful Tourist Information Offices can be found on Avenue Thiers and the main rail station. Pick up a copy of the weekly publication known as Semaine des Spectacles which comes out every Wednesday and can be found on most news stands - it details all the events in Nice, Cannes and Aix.
