First visit has to be to the Musee de la Tapisserie de Bayeux to view the oldest tapestry in the world - thought to have been created in Kent and depicting 58 scenes in 8 colours of the life of William the Conqueror. Sitting behind glass for ultimate preservation - this is a must see. The Musee Memorial de la Bataille de Normandie is filled with the story of the 1944 landings and opposite a stark reminder of the 4144 who died - the cemetery. On to Notre Dame for some peaceful contemplation and simply sit a while and be thankful for the freedom we have today.
