The Cathedral sits on an island on the River III and is made of pink limestone - truly heavenly. Some of the best museums are to be found in this quarter - the museum right next door to the Cathedral and the Archaeology and Anthropology Museum as well as the Heitz Gallery and the Modern and Contemporary Arts Gallery.

There's a host of shopping choices here with many exclusive and chic boutiques, jewellers and speciality shops as well as the famous Galeries Lafayette - filled with every designer name under the sun - indulge and treat yourself!!

Food and drink is diverse and delicious - try the traditional Quiche Lorraine with salad or the Baeckeoffe - a layered casserole of assorted meats or the Flammenkueche - a pizza like tart made with onions, bacon and creme fraiche.
