Pay homeage to nearby Avignon and its famous bridge - Pont St Benezet, visit the Palais des Papes - home to nine popes of the town and be sure to see the art works in The Calvet Museum and Angladon Museum.

Avignon is filled with tiny medieval cobbled streets, secret gardens, charming courtyards and pavement cafes where you can enjoy a coffee, mingle with the locals and watch the world go by. Stroll beside the Rhone River, sit in the pretty squares and soak up the atmosphere of French living.

Excursions to surrounding areas are well worth taking part in - visit Luberon villages, Orange & Chateauneuf du Pape, Saint Remy, Arles - home to Van Gogh for a few years, private wine tours and tastings. Golden beaches of Cote Vermeille, Cote des Maures and a little further round Cote D'Azur make for a perfect day out by the sea.

Gastronomic delights include sweets of nougat, Papalines made from chocolate, Aix Calissons, garlic, olives, honey, Pastis Provencal herbs, goats cheese and of course Cote du Rhone wines - delicious!
