There you will find the ancient Port Vauban and the Fort Carre - a 16th century star shaped fortress overlooking the Port, built on the ruins of the Temple of Mercury. Take in the ocean views, marvel at the enormous yachts in the jetty and generally soak up the ancient wisdom fastened in these walls and ruins.

There are beautiful botanical gardens to enjoy and a Marineland which is wonderful for the children. Carnivals, festivals and a celebratory feel fills the air. A casino, trendy cafe bars and clubs where you can chill out, relax and mingle with friends old and new are a plenty.

Be sure to find an intimate restaurant for evening dining and then perhaps enjoy a Jazz session, Magic display or Opera later on.

Comedy, artistic evenings, puppeteers and guided tours are all for the taking.
