Lyon is the "City of Lights" - over 300 sites are lit up each evening by 1000 lights bringing about an enchanting and truly magical spectrum. Nightlife and the social scene here is second only to Paris - the trendy and hip hot spots are centred along the streets of Saone, Croix Rousse and Presq'Ile. Anyone who is anyone is likely to be seen here. Evening entertainment takes the form of musical entertainment, including the Opera House and Auditorium, gastronomic delights found in all the best restaurants and of course the famous and much loved wines of the Rhone Valley.

For antique lovers - you have come to the right place - there are over 650 antique shops in and around Lyon - selling everything from restorative furniture, ancient objects, arts, crafts, paintings, ornaments, gems and for a truly medieval feel be sure to visit the Old Town where the aroma of incense fills the air. View the Cathedral St-Jean with its astronomical clock.

For wine lovers you are a short distance to the Beaujolais countryside - a land of streams, granite peaks, forests and pastureland and where the fruity red Beaujolais Nouveau is produced. If you are here on release day - 3rd November - then take full advantage of doing the "run" in record time and pluck the best for yourself.

Prestigious shopping is to be found in several arenas - namely Passage de L'Argue, Part-Dieu Retail Centre and the pedestrianised area of Rue Victor Hugo and Rue de la Republique - brimming with abundance and choices - enjoy.

Good stuff: Very well situated for walking to the 'old' town and places of interest.

Bad stuff: A lot of street noise in the early morning...unable to sleep with the window open.

Overall: Overall my friend and I thought this hotel was quite good value for money ,however we did see other hotels in the area that were the same price or just a little more expensive (5 euro's extra) which appeared to be better decorated and far more contempory in appearance. The room & bathroom were clean ,alas the towels small & thin however more were supplied when I requested them. The staff were helpful and they were happy to keep our luggage for us after we had checked out until we were leaving some 5 hours later.
