Rise and shine and enjoy a typical French breakfast - fresh coffee and croissants and then decide on your day ahead. There's lots of shopping here and this is one of the reasons its so popular with day trippers from the UK and the Channel Islands. Head for Rue Georges Clemenceau, Rue Ville Pepin, Tue de Dinan and Rue Porcon. There are many boutiques, fashion houses and jewellers as well as accessories, gift stores and arty shops. For some of the best Bretan pottery - head along Rue de Dinan and Place Guy de Chambre.

Market days are fun and full of colour and character - Tuesday and Fridays are the days and here you will find the full spectrum from trendy to trashy - CDs, books, arts and crafts and gadgets and toys as well as alsorts of household items.

After a day of exploring, head back to base where you can rest a while, relax and unwind and then refresh ready for some evening entertainment. There are numerous bars, restaurants and clubs if you fancy some dancing. The Casino is a popular spot or why not take in a show - dress code is elegant!

Good stuff: We have stopped at this Hotel on previous occasions and it is always excellent. The room is always clean and comfortable, the staff friendly and helpful and the buffet breakfast superb.

Bad stuff: Nothing

Overall: Our only regret is that the Hotel was fully booked for the nights of 19/20 May otherwise we would have stopped here again on our return to St Malo.
