Close to the main town of Bastia it is well worth venturing in and enjoying the heritage sites there. Shopping, browsing, cafe bars where you can sit a while and catch your breath, enjoy long cool drinks in the shade. The main places to head for are Place St Nicholas, The Chapel of the Conception and the Old Port. Visit the Ethnography Museum too.
Light lunches of salads and fresh breads and the local wine are the perfect way to spend mid-day. For those who like to spend time and energy on sports there are a number of choices - canoing, cycling, sailing and an abundance of walking and photography.
