Find the Tourist Information Office on Rue de la Republique and buy a Grenoble City Pass - this gets you in to a number of places but the piece de la resistance is the Cable Car ride up to the top of the hill on the north side of the town - home to the Bastille and from here you can enjoy the most splendid views over the town - Roman straight roads, red roofs and all framed by the tips of the Alps - photographers paradise.
