Pau is the capital of the Bearn region and is an elegant town with lots to offer. Its a favourite spot for the more affluent visitors and has some truly spectacular scenery. For those who love walking, treking, hiking and trailing - there are over 350 km of Parc National des Pyrenees to discover, explore and conquer. An abundance of sporting activities are available here and places to eat, shop and visit. For those who want an exhilarating time there's ski-ing, canoing and white water rafting.
Horse lovers - be sure to be here in October when the World Class Horse Riding Competition takes place and includes dressage, cross-country and Jumping.
There are a number of events that take place throughout the year and June and July time is the Festival de Pau - filled with music, dance, theatre and plenty of visitors from all over the Pyrenees area - join in the fun, laughter and excitement.
For art lovers then a visit to Musee des Beaux-Arts is a must with works on display by Ruben, Greco and Degas.
