En route to other parts but spending a few days here is perfect for that breather in between stops. This is one of the most beautiful sites in the whole of Normandie - visited by people from all over the world. The medieval town is filled with architectural and cultural buildings - steeped in history and displaying a well of knowledge and wisdom.
Take time to explore the Abbey, visit the largest and most famous room known in La Merveille - the 13th century building - Salle des Chevaliers - named after the horses which were much loved and still are to this day. Head in land a little for that free spirited horse back ride to truly feel the full sense of the French love of this independent and mystical animal.
Pleasant strolls, shady breaks with long cool drinks and simply soaking up the atmosphere is the order of the day.
