Hotels Blois France Cheap Blois Hotels GuideThe small town of Blois attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors a year
purely on the basis of its esteemed Renaissance chateau. Situated in the
heart of town, Chateau de Blois was the seat of power for the Loir-et-Cher
district from the 13th century to the 17th. In this time it experienced an
amazing history: it was the residence of several French kings, the
birthplace of King Louis XII, the site of Joan of Arc's blessing by the
Archbishop of Reims and even the scene of the assassination of the Duke of
Guise by Henri III. The building is much lauded for it's innovative design,
which includes an octagonal exterior staircase made from carved white stone,
and an awe-inspiring 13th-century main hall. Much of Blois itself hails from
a similar era. Its quaint dwellings are, characteristically of the area,
capped with blue-slate roofs, and narrow cobbled streets make for intriguing
walks around the old town. Split in two by the Loire River, the settlement
also serves as a prefect base for exploring local hotspots. Several areas of
peaceful woodland are within either walking or cycling distance, including
the regal Blois and Boulogne forests. The Parc de Chambord is also close by,
as is its resident chateau, one of the most famous and revered in all of
France. When you require a good way to find where to stay in Blois we can help. Choose from the selection of cheap hotels in Blois here, click on the picture or the hotel name for more information and to check availability.
