Also, the Fesch Museum, founded by Napoleon's uncle, holds paintings by Titian, Botticelli and Veronese, and is said to be the biggest collection of Italian art in France outside of the Louvre. Most major settlements are coastal, but others, such as the central, mountain-hugging town of Corte, provide views of the valleys that are as calming as those of the clear waters of the seas.
