Saint-Denis is characterised by two impressive architectural feats constructed a thousand years apart: the Saint-Denis Basilica and the Stade de France. The Basilica's unique as it's considered to be the first major building crafted in the Gothic style. Completed in the 13th century, it became the burial place of kings from its inception to the Revolution - their tombs (as well as that of Mary Antoinette) are still on display. The Stade de France is, of course, a wholly different kind of church.
