Hotels Saint Denis France Cheap Saint-Denis Hotels GuideSaint-Denis is characterised by two impressive architectural feats
constructed a thousand years apart: the Saint-Denis Basilica and the Stade
de France. The Basilica's unique as it's considered to be the first major
building crafted in the Gothic style. Completed in the 13th century, it
became the burial place of kings from its inception to the Revolution -
their tombs (as well as that of Mary Antoinette) are still on display. The
Stade de France is, of course, a wholly different kind of church. The scene
of France's greatest sporting triumph - the 1998 World Cup victory, it
remains a continuous source of national pride and is the place to catch an
international football or ruby match amongst an 80,000 capacity crowd of
royal blue. This Northern Paris suburb has more to it than just its
landmarks, however. Ever since Louis XIV initiated the production of weaving
and dying here, it's remained the heart of the department's hard working way
of life; subsequently producing a myriad of goods, from jewellery to
furniture. As in neighbouring towns, much of the local produce can be bought
at the massive street market, which is held three times a week. As well as
the aforementioned, you'll find clothing, shoes, electronics and range of
attractive objet d'art, such as statuettes and jade carvings. Secure online booking of hotels in Saint Denis is available here. Choose from our list of cheap hotels in Saint Denis, click on the picture or the text link for more information and to check availability.
