Winter in Nice Enjoy the Nice Carnival

Nice is the place that for centuries the elite of Europe came to enjoy their winter. The yearly winter carnival that the city offers is a spectacular that should not be missed. Colour, fun and frolics take place all over the city by day and night. The winter sports of skiing and ice skating are also available to you in and near the city. As the weather gets colder at home, the mild climate and clear skies appeal even more.

Nice Carnival

For over 100 years France's largest carnival has taken place in Nice. During February the streets fill with magnificent costumes as colourful processions take place down the Promenade de Anglais. The usually clear blue sky are an additional bonus as the fun really gets going in the city. The city fills with a wonderful atmosphere as this historic carnival takes place. It seems that all of France comes here to party, as does a large portion of Europe.

Winter in Nice has never been so exciting. If you have not discovered it yet, you don't know what you are missing. The fun does not stop when the sun goes down. All night parties take place and on some nights a magnificent firework display fills the sky.

Winter Sports In and Near Nice

With is location so close to the Alps it is not surprising that winter sports are on offer close to and in Nice. Buses will take you up to many of the local skiing villages on the piste and from here you can indulge in the snow covered slopes. For those who are not as sporty, you can still enjoy a drink in local cafes. Also you don't have to take part in the sport to enjoy the delights of the apres ski.

In addition there is an all year round ice rink available in the city. This is available all year round at Palais des Sports Jean Bouin or the Jean Bouin Sports Centre. It is located to the East of Nice toward Ville Franche, just up the road from the Palais des Congres Acropolis Exhibition Hall.

Weather in Nice During Winter

The weather during the Nice Winter Carnival is warmer than most of the rest of Europe. However, warm clothes are s good idea as temperatures average about 50F / 10C in December and 48F / 8.9C in January.
